My Story
My name is Sachi. I was born and raised in Japan and spent many years as a professional ballet dancer with one of Tokyo's premier ballet companies. In 2011, I moved to the Yukon and began teaching classical ballet at Leaping Feats, now known as "The Heart of Riverdale."
I inherited a love for sewing from my mother, who owns a sewing and alterations business in Japan, and also contributed to costume making for Japan's national ballet. Initially, I focused on constructing ballet tutus before expanding into clothing alterations.
Currently, I serve as the director of the costume department and a ballet instructor at The Heart of Riverdale, where my costumes are featured in every show.
In 2024, after further training with my mother in Japan, I decided to open my own business in the Yukon, prompted by requests from friends and students for alterations. I am also passionate about handcrafts, and will sell them on this website soon!
My business
Golden Stitch offers key chains, necklaces, Christmas ornaments, and earrings, all infused with a touch of Japanese style or ballet essence. In addition to regular clothing alterations, I specialize in embellishing and adjusting sizes for performance costumes, including those for dance, figure skating, and other stage performances.
